Horizon call of the mountain review11/29/2023 Through intuitive design, awesome spectacle, and gripping combat, Horizon’s first step into virtual reality is one packed with exciting. Now it's time for Uncharted VR - climbing: check, shooting: check, exploration: check. s an impressive, well-rounded showcase of the technology and yet another solid adventure in the Horizon universe worth taking. Horizon Call of the Mountain’s exciting highs elevate it just enough above its often monotonous climbing mechanics to create a fun first blockbuster-scale entry into the PS VR2 library. Let's hope the next games from Sony will be even better technically. It's a pity it's not native 90/120fps because you can see the doubling/ghosting of 60fps reprojected to 120fps when you move your hands left and right. Pros Gorgeous landscapes Excellent sense of scale Physical climbing Bow feels excellent Cons Flat story and hero Finnicky VR interactions Overly complex combat As I scale an enormous robot-dinosaur. The textures should be better on a powerhouse which is PS5. The graphics are a little blurry in the headset, also some of the textures could be better - as you climb some railings for example and look up close, the resolution of them can be really low. Also the game doesn't explain some of the mechanics well for example the focus/instinct button (triangle) - for most of the game I used it only for exploration (highlighting paths) and then discovered that during fights it slows down time when you keep it pressed and you can easly target the weak points and such making the fights much better. Playing on the flat screen is so disappointing after seeing all the machines up close to scale in 3d. While players can easily spend dozens of hours harvesting machine parts across gigantic open worlds in Horizon 's core games, Call of the Mountain is a contained, almost on-rails experience. It would be nice to have some mission side by side with Aloy. Horizon Call of the Mountain blew me away. Also Aloy appears only for a couple of minutes - they definitely could use her some more, c'mon it's a freaking Horizon game. Not remembering those people or places from the big Horizon games I was kind of confused. Does the title succeed Read on to find out. It's a pity that the story is kind of boring and told by other characters when you stand still and listen to them talking. With Horizon Call of the Mountain, Sony is hoping to have an exclusive big-budget VR game to entice players to the new PSVR 2. Focuses on climbing and exploration with some small puzzles and fights here and there. 8h PlayedNot a bad game for a launch title.
